So the Mets had a 2-0 lead and two runners on w/one out in Game 1 of this series and seemed to be about to run Alcantara off the field ... but Lindor lined into a DP (1-U) and they never threatened to score again.

Today they had two-on/one-out for Soto who GiDP'd to kill that inning.

So let's see how this plays out. So far, not good.

In what universe does pitching Diaz in the 5th inning make any sense?

A universe in which Mendoza has no reason to have the least bit of confidence in anyone else?

So what do you do after Diaz?

So the Marlins have been shut out (and barely gotten any baserunners) in 21 of the 23 innings in this series ... and have scored 11 runs.

This is how we always used to lose to the Yanx: hold them to five hits but have four of those hits plus two walks all come in the same inning and lose the game 5 - 3 or something like that.

Miami bringing in the 150-pounder.

Which reminds me that Bobby Shantz turned 100 just a few days ago.

Pitched for 16 seasons, won an MVP!!, won 8 GGs, made three ASGs ... at 5' 6" / 139

The bat boys are bigger these days (particularly that 'Monstrously Big' one)

This feels like deja vu, where they just don't show up when it matters most. Oh that's right: 2016 one-game playoff...4 hits, 0 runs. 2007 final game...5 hits, 1 run. 2022 Wild Card Series, Games 1 & 3...outscored 13-1.
