l like that, post-suspension, Fernando Tatis, Jr. is just a good player — a corner outfielder with an .800 OPS.

Without the juice, he went from a young Nomar Garciaparra to something more like a youngish Michael Cuddyer.

I don't like that the Mets haven't gotten a hit since Mullins' homer in the fourth.

Multiple sources have reported that the Mets intend to use Manaea to piggyback with Holmes tonight. And, that on Sunday against Washington, it will be Manaea starting with Holmes as the piggyback.

Reds losing 3-0 through 8. Giants are up 4-0 after 1, but that is probably a good thing, because it's the Diamondbacks they are beating.

Added bonus is that the day provides an organizational sweep as Syracuse hangs on for a 4-3 win over Lehigh Valley (two doubles by Jett Williams! save by Wander Suero!), Binghamton comes from behind for a 3-1 win over Somerset (Ben Simon remains unhittable since his promotion), and Brooklyn ekes out a 2-1 victory over Hub City.

That win by Brooklyn ain't just another game, however. It is post-season time in high-A ball, and the victory gives them a 2-0 win in the best-of-five championship series as they vie for their first-ever South Atlantic League championship, and a team from Coney Island, New York being the champs of the South Atlantic seems pretty improbably geographically.

Fills me with a sense of dread

So in a game where neither NYM pitcher needed to go long, the 'Tandem Two' combined for just one walk (Holmes) and both stayed under the 15 pitches/IP threshold:

Homes 53/4 (13.25); Manaea 71/5 (14.2).

In a season where our walk rate is 3.6/9* and the starters regularly top 20+ (and occasionally 30+)** pitches in the 1st then continue that trend from there, it's a welcome change.

* Tied w/Nats for worst in NL. Lg avg = 3.2/9

** or Tong and his 40 pitches over 2/3 of an inning in his last start
