kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Author Posted September 5, 2025 Jesus, Mary and Giuseppe... bags full and no outs....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 That's one, but you're not going to double up de la Cruz
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 This is the best stalling technique since the days of Johnny Franco's forever loose shoelaces.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 That pussy Mendoza just hooked the pitcher's shoes!!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Author Posted September 5, 2025 Shoe change. Really.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Did he switch to running shoes?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 And suddenly I can see a path to salvation!!!

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 What a great game to watchProps to Acuna and all
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 The thing about loading the bases is that it's the most effective method Diaz has of keeping runners from stealing.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Author Posted September 5, 2025 Crazy bookaroonies....
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Diaz got out of it without an effective fastball
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Good news: We wonBad News: Because of the number of pitches thrown, Diaz will be unavailable until a week from Tuesday
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 That's was a very exciting ending , great play from both

It traced how it evolved in this section of the country and then it that one, etc. But then, for whatever reason, chili evolution took some weird left hand turn and is unlike anywhere else. Skyline os the brand/restaurant that helped make it popular. Some love it, others not so much. And if you think Gary is down on Skyline , turn on the radio and listen to Howie rant away some time.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 That was........................................scary.I need a drink. Maybe two.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Props to Diaz beating a guy under 40 and running from the left side to first.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Nobody but Acuna makes that last play. Wow.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Holy fuck. Still not calm. What a play by Acuna.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 The guy is pitching in the ninth inning with a one-run lead, and the bases are loaded mostly of his own making ... and the guy changes his shoes! That's insane! Other sports may have more action, more speed, more violence, but no sport brings the drama like baseball. That's some David Mamet shit right there.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 That was such a huge game. I can't believe how close that was to a loss. Two balls that just went foul. That first strikeout in the ninth. The Acuna play. Luck was on our side tonight.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Watching the replay of the final out, a diving Pete Alonso came realclose to tipping that ball which, had he done so, would have deflected the ball into RCF and easily have ended the game the other way. And even if he gloves it I don't think he gets the out at 1st so it's a tie game at best. It's tough to tell Pete not to go for that ball, especially since he's probably not yet used to Acuna's added range so didn't instinctively think the better play was maybe just to retreat to 1st base.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 "One out in the ninth and the bases are loaded. Diaz is really going to have to dig back if he's going to ... what is going on out there, Ron?!""Diaz is painting his nails.""What?!""I shit you not. I've never seen anything like th ... is he blowing on them, Keith?!""Well, they've got to be dry."
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 One last thing, the pen tonight: 3-2/3, 0 runs, 2 singles (one on the infield), 3 BB, & 7 Ks, all in relief of Peterson who had nearly blown leads of 4-0 & 5-1 and allowed two of the first three hitters to reach in the 6th.iow, probably not a good time to be calling Mendoza a pinhead for his mound management tonight.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Just saw the play at the plate. That tag has to be made. Thank god we won this game.
