ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Big sports day for me. Rutgers football opener at 6 and the future world champion Mets at 7:10 on SNY
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Am I a bad baseball fan for not knowing ANY of these Marlins players?

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 I know them from doing daily fantasy. They have some talentRookie OF Jakob Marsee seems to be the real deal
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Yeah, Marsee is one of those guys they've added during the ongoing season.A L/L CF with just 102 PAs so far, but a .356/.422 BA/OBA thus far with 17 of his 32 hits going for XBsNot a bad start for a 6th round draft pick out of the baseball powerhouse that is Central Michigan U in 2022
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Marlins pitcher Mazur can be had so let's go
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 HBP. Allowed a SB. Poor decision to throw home. E1. Awful. Gifted 2 runs.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Now 3 runs. Complete letdown game.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 As far as I'm concerned Brandon Sproat can have Holmes next turn. Clay can go to the bullpen
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 This has been death by a thousand infield grounders.1st inning- infield single- infield single off Holmes's foot- run scored on Sac Fly3rd inning- HBP + SB- GO moves runner to 3rd- grounder/FC scores run (no out)- slow grounder 5-3, runner moves to 2nd- grounder to 1st/E-1 run scores- single to LF, run scoresHalf of the Marlins 16 PAs resulted in contact where the ball didn't leave the IF. Only four were turned into outs, and two of the ones that were moved runners up.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 3rd started with a HBP, no good
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 And the nightly roll call of 76 pitches thru 4 innings despite just one K, one BB and virtually nothing hit hard by the Marlins.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 I like Lake Bachar. He has the sweetest customized van with a shag interior.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 He also has a nice home run pitch.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 (edited) Pete got ALL of that.According to the Miami broadcasters, it was in the air for over 6 seconds hang time, hit at a 36 degree angle. WAY up there. Edited August 28, 2025 by Guest
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 If you're going to lead off the inning by allowing a walk on a full count, just plunk the guy with the first pitch instead and save the wear and tear and time.oe: and then hit the second guy too
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Stanek tRyan' to give the Marlins a way back to the lead.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 =ashie62 post_id=202677 time=1756430357 user_id=90]Brutal poorly played game
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 I'm hoping they can hold the Marlins under double digits this inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 So that's two grounders to McNeil, two grounders to Pete, one to Lindor, one to Holmes (and I may be missing one or two) that resulted in a total of zero outs.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2025 Author Posted August 28, 2025 Five unearned runs not really a recipe for success.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 It is not a sure-handed evening.Still plenty of swings to take. I cannot vouch for the Marlins pen apart from that Lake Bachar dude.
