The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Well, kiss this game goodbye. Three run HR to make it 5-0 Cleveland. With our offense, it's pretty much "turn out the lights, the party's over".
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 Not an encouraging start for a team that might not score more than five runs in this series.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Yet another game in which the Mets starting pitcher can't get through 6 innings. Manaea was very good for 5 innings, then pretty terrible for 2/3 of an innings.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Well THAT is something.Dad gum it, SCORE SOME MORE!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 It's a variation on the 'bloop and a blast' theme: 'two gifts and a blast'.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 The Guardians gift us 2 base runners, then Alonso hit HR #251 to make a game of it. I was prepared to turn this one off and go read if the Mets didn't show some life in this at bat. I guess now my reading will have to wait.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 When I saw the Guards in Cleveland last Monday, they had a good lead going into the ninth. Then Cade Smith, their closer who is not facing a lifetime ban, imploded with the help of two errors to let the Rox get a rare win. We can get these guys!
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I hope your right. They helped us out last inning.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I went out for 15 minutes and Mets magic happened
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Nimmo has looked horrible at the plate tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Six Mets have gone down like dominoes since that home run.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I don't understand how this offense can be so bad for the entire season.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 The two before Pete's home run should have been outs as well, but the Guardians were in a giving mood.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Not often you see a guy advance three runners with a sacrifice fly.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 [bIGPURPLE]Happiness Abounds![/bIGPURPLE]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 I'll take an 0-2, 400 ft first out of the inning.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I thought the Mets had the lead when Mullins hit that hard one hopper, but Rocchio made a great stop to prevent 2 runs. Cleveland bringing in their closer in the 8th.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 So I guess this Cade Smith guy is Cleveland's 'Class B' closer.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Well now they're giving it away.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Lindor gots to remember how to corral those throws.By the way, that was worst part of my game as an infielder. Those throwdowns always got away from me.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I was thinking that needed to walk Kwan, pitch to Martinez, then walk Ramirez, and pitch to Fry.But Kwan pops up!
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Huge second out. Have to get this guy, you can't bring Ramirez to the plate.
