Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 This is the last late night game of the year. There's one 8:10 start in a couple weeks but everything else is 7:40 or earlier (until the playoffs).

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Be well, ashie. Blessings to your mom.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Pete now 4/39 since the AS break.I knew he shouldn't have done that fuckin' HR Derby!!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Please let this game be less frustrating than last night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 The Mets come to town and we have Iglesias doing Iglesias things.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 That may be the first time I've seen a pitcher successfully pull off a scoop-throw to home. Those are usually more likely to wind up rolling to the backstop than in the catcher's glove.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 3-2 and two outs, sure, but Cronenworth still should have been covering.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 We are getting rung up on breaking balls away again.Let us hope Soto comes out for the bottom of the inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Nope. Taylor to center, McNopples to right, and Soto to the clubhouse.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Cancel that Bergert!(I am flying solo here.)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Ok. Big spot here. Let's go Lindor!!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Wow! Taylor gets one inning on defense, and then gets pinch-hit for.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Fernando Tatis just Kelly Leaked Jackson Merrill!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Some terrible ABs by our big hitters. Thank God Marte made contact.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Edgy MD wrote:Wow! Taylor gets one inning on defense, and then gets pinch-hit for. This appears to be a huge unforced error by Mendoza. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 He didn't anticipate Taylor coming up in a game situation. That probably isn't very foresigthful (foresightful?), as (a) whoever was entering was entering into the three-hole and ( the basic rule is to sub for offense when you are behind and defense when you are ahead.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Yeah. If he couldn't anticipate that a key offensive situation might develop ahead of the #3 spot in the lineup in the remaining 5 innings of the game…that's not a good look.So he burns his only backup outfielder and has to play McNeil and Marte both out there for the rest of the game (or burn another player and use another infielder in the outfield). When the alternative was playing Marte there for a few innings and then still having Taylor available for later if needed. Just dumb all around.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Inexcusable. Four pitch leadoff walk to Tatis. Mets really one of the dumbest teams around.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 But not as dumb as running on Torrens!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 This whole fucking game is dumb.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Premiere hitterHigh leverage reliever(Additional SP)This game makes clear what Stearns needs to do take this time from “likely playoff participant” to “legit shot to win it all.”
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Mendys obsession with second innings for ineffective relievers continues
