Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I dunno what the latest is on this guy's back injury but I have little patience for role players too unhealthy to answer the bell. I get it when a pitcher gets hurt and to an extent when an everyday guy goes down. But if you're a guy whose job it is to fill in when other guys are out, and you're out, you're worthless.Mad at Winker and weak body

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I don't know how much I get to second-guess injuries — if the docs/trainers say he's hurt, then I believe them. I get it seems bad to injure your back right after spending 8 weeks rehabbing your oblique. This is to me more an Stearns issue: the team has been short on hitters all year and even more so now.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2025 Author Posted July 11, 2025 I like Winkie's hair and attitude as much as the next guy, maybe more. This reminds me a little bit of when Justin Turner had multiple DL stints whatever year that was. Very useful player when available but a big swing in team effectiveness when he wasn't.What if an outfielder for the Mets gets dinged up now? Winker won't be there to fill in
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 And outfielder for the Mets did get dinged up.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Back tightness after an 8 week rehab is not the best look. He gets paid big bucks for what, playing part time and he fails at that taskDrew Gilbert has been decent at Syracuse. I cup of coffee for him could prove to be fruitful
