Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 (edited) I'm 0-2 w/IGTs so far this year so I'm playing the role of 'slump buster' which will only work if NYM bats can figure out a way to bust out of all of their collective slumps. They've relied on the bats of Lindor and Alonso for most of the season while everyone else was sub-par and/or inconsistent. But now that Fransisco and Pete are scuffling themselves for the past week or so the RS average is around 3/G lately. And we get a rookie pitcher to face: Hunter Dobbins, R/R (not sure why I insist on listing his batting side), 25 y/o, 6' 2"/185, 8th round pick in 2021 out of Texas Tech. This will be his sixth start after making his ML debut in early April: 2-1, 3.90, 1.30 WHiP. 32 hits in 27.2 innings but just 4 walks. Has so far faced StL, CHW, MIN, KCR, DETKodai Senga goes for the good guys.Oh, and remember that this game is scheduled for a 6:45 EDT first pitchThe Red Sox are currently in 2nd place AL East despite a below .500 record of 23-25 after losing two of three to the Braves over the weekend. With 234 RS and 226 RA they score at a rate of about 1/2 per game over ML average but are worse than avg at allowing runs by nearly the same gap (0.36 R/G) Edited May 19, 2025 by Guest

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Let's go, the Braves are starting to winThe Mets have had the best of everything until now it seems. This game would go aways to snap out of this funkBreak the funk!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Pete assumed it was a homer and didn't run out of the boxThat's a sin
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Missed it, even though I read FK reminder that it was a 6:45 start
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Strange that Lindor was nowhere in the vicinity of that run-scoring groundout to McNaggles.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Well, Lindor really hustled on that single down the line, but a 2-0 hole is not the plan.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Rough rough startI think Alvarez has regressed as a catcher. Too much backhandSNY

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Nice Twelve Angry Men reference from Darling.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 If we don't get great starting pitching, we have no chance.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Senga went to the mound without his pitchcom and later tripped over the mound in the first inning
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 [CROSSOUT]Omar[/CROSSOUT] Carlos Narváez outscoring the Mets, 1-0.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Losing a game by a thousand paper cuts
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 The bottom of the lineup is not playing along with that narrative.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 I really believe Soto is feeling every bit of the pressure
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Beltran had a bad first year for the Mets. Lindor had a bad first year. (Bad for them, anyway) After that they were back to being themselves.Soto seems to be going through the same thing.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Alonso getting the toss and throw yips.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 Pretty muchPete's head is not in straight right now
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 It's not just the accuracy of his throws, it's the timing of them too. That flip was obviously too high but it was also way too late.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 He did look like a ballerina with that toss
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 These games are painful to watch.
