This a bag full of straight up quotes:

"Selfish behavior," one stated.

"In the old days he'd get benched tomorrow for that," said another.

"Pathetic," added one. "It's one thing to be in a slump, but dogging it down the line is bad. You're paid far too much to be pulling this [expletive]."

"He has no heart," said another.

"At least act like you wanna play the game of baseball if Soto is hustling out of the box, there's a play at first base!?" another exclaimed. "Things like that infuriate me, man."

"765 million for a guy who doesnt want to play here," added another.

"No excuses this was beyond embarrassing," said another.

"I'm all set with this guy," one claimed. "He's a pure distraction. Bench him until he proves he's a team player."

Can't read the article because Athlon , what the hell is that wants me to turn off ad blocker , anyway , aside from the euphoria of his actual signing it has been an utter disappointment, obviously that can change , but it's not good

Sounds like a good time for a closed door players only meeting.

Did Soto get a chartered Jet in his contract and doesn't travel

with the team? It got mentioned last night but only half heard.

Yeah, those quotes come from fans.

Guess that's why there's no Soto-In-Dog-House thread!

I'll go hide for awhile until 6:45...

Last night in the owners box, when Soto came up to the plate, Steve Cohen reportedly surprised guests in the box when he described Juan as “A really good kid. A very good player. Not a superstar.”

Even more surprisingly, when Francisco Álvarez came up, Cohen added, “He thinks he's going to get Carl Crawford money. He's had everything wrong with him. He won't get it.”

Michael Kay is floating the idea -- no wait, the Fact! -- that Soto is deeply unhappy as a Met and that he wanted all along to re-sign with the Yanx but that his family was so taken by Steve and Alex Cohen that they pressured him into Queens rather than the Bronx.

Take all that however you wish.

That being said, Soto's going to start hearing boos. And the boos are going to get louder unless he plays better and harder.

Lindor heard them. Beltran heard them. Hell, even Piazza heard them. So buckle up and buckle down, Juan.

I saw that Cohen debunked the whole not flying with the team. It's the lack of hustle that bothers me. A problem that is far too common in today's game.

Embarrassing. Mets fans suck.

It's Soto's 4th organization by his age 26 year. I don't buy that it all has to do with cost. I just gives me pause. I've said it here before

Soto seems happy to be here to me anyway

He did look so sad at Yankee stadium that maybe he wishes he were still there.

He'll hit, his swing is too good

Win a few games and this noise disappears

The fan/media reaction has a lot to do with the huge contract and that he has no previous track record with the Mets to fall back on.

Remember that Pete also didn't run out his off-the-wall hit earlier in that same game and got his ass thrown out at 2nd, but there hasn't been a peep about his lack of hustle.
