*Made up of 60% of the gate receipts for all “guaranteed” playoff games (first 2 games of each WC series, first 3 of each DS, first 4 of each LCS and WS).

The guy who drove the shuttle bus to/from Syracuse deserves a full share.

When you make what these guys make, an extra $180k doesn't seem like enough for an extra month's work.

60% is way more than I would have thought goes to the players. I guess that shows how little the gates are compared to the entire revenue pie.

Of course that amount would be higher if the Mets had Won the NLDS and higher still for the WS winner.

The player's share is also split up more than it used to be; the total pie is bigger on account of the extra rounds, but so are the number of teams splitting it.

Further diluting things is that the number of players/coaches splitting one team's take didn't used to be anywhere near 68.

So the total kitty is a big number but then you get to each player getting 1/68th of 12% of the total.

But, yeah, playoff loot means a lot more to the marginal players than it does to the stars.

Rickey Henderson was famous for chiding his team mates into voting full shares for every player no matter how brief their time

on the club on the basis that the difference between a full share and 1/4 share could be life-changing for some of them.
