Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Put another way: the Mets have scored two total runs in the last 29 innings and have given up at least three runs in a single inning six different times during that span.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 About seven more hits this inning, please.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Looks like Vientos is finally the DH for the 2024 Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Boyle is getting it done, isn't he?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Mets had a chance at a three run inning there ... but they don't do those.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Home-field Mets still engaged as heck defensively.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 I think Kingston Korn is going to be a homer of sportscaster.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 This game is sucking a big fat corn dog.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Holes in our infield gloves is not a good thing to discover.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 OK, we deleted that four-run third. Now to wipe out that three-run first.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 McNeil starting to chase that inside slider again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Edgy MD wrote:Boyle chased!!He had reached his boyling point. So we finally got a couple runs, then have a couple runners on with three chances to get even closer ... and no one hits a fair ball for the rest of the inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 The interesting thing is that McNeil and Álvarez went down in their respective classic manner.Almost like the A's are reading scouting reports.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 And remember, all replay decisions will be made quickly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Clean slide. Let's play ball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 I think we might have a busted nose.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 It was also a clean slide ten minutes ago.And even if there was a 5% chance of getting that flipped, is it a smart move? When the downside to not challenging is runner on 1st and two out and the downside to challenging is not having a challenge for the rest of the game, I'd argue it was borderline stupid. That it took so long to adjudicate is beyond borderline stupid.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 If that nose isn't broke, it's because the brim of his hat broke some his momentum into the face plant. And the brim being driven into your forehead hurts like a mofo also. He was totally disoriented trying to get up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 The A's have:- an infield single which set up a three-run inning (1st)- an infield error which was followed by a 3R HR (3rd)- an infield single which temporarily scored a runner from 2nd base (later overturned) (5th)- and an infield single which did score a runner from 2nd base and set-up another run (6th)So basically 8 of their 9 runs were linked to four separate batted balls in a six inning span that didn't leave, or shouldn't have left, the infield.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Damn, it's rough right now to get some runners on with two out and see Álvarez coming up, but that was a surprisingly decent effort at taking the outside pitch the other way.Not decent enough, sadly.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Two hits and a walk vs four Oakland pitchers across four innings. So the offense has had one good inning but only if you want to put the tag of 'good' on an inning where you go 0/3 starting with two on, none out, and a 3-0 count.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 A 3 run inning is a good inning, even if it could (should) have been better.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 OK, it can happen in the ninth. It's happened before.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Surprising number of Oakland fans here tonight. Props for bringing the big “Sell” flag behind their dugout.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 But first-pitch swinging from your best on-base guy isn't going to get it done.
