The good news is that there's no imminent danger of anyone passing the Mets. They're 8 games ahead of the next team, the Rockies.

Yup. And they don't need to pass 'em all at once.



With the win, the Mets gain (naturally) on the Padres (who hold the second Wild Card spot), the Cards (who hold the last-seat-on-the-lifeboat third Wild Card spot), the Reds, and the Giant. They finish the evening with a single game of three different teams — Pittsburgh, Chicago, and San Francisco. May all three of them sleep uneasily.



The Mets currently hold the coveted "Hottest Team in the League" title.

Had a 6 PM gig a bit out of town, so I listened to the first 3 innings at home (because I don't get WPIX because fuck WPIX) and then in the vehicle on XM. Based on how those innings went I was not confident. My mother in law attended my gig and gave me Mets updates as I was playing.
