Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I, for one, welcome the Luís Torrens era to Citi Field.(If they play "Brother Louie" for him, I think I'm going to scream.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 For some reason, I thought this was 1:10. I tuned only to get the beefy tones of the esteemed Todd Zeile.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 If you were listening to the radio you'd have gotten the froggy sounds of John Gibbons
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 It looks like the all the Mets players are participating in Fantastic 4 Day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 This is looking like a Dickey start. Not a Mets Dickey start. A Rangers Dickey start.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Quintana hit two right handed batters with the second one plunking the batter on his backI don't believe Quintana had any intention of ill intent but it did appear as if his intent was to plunkI guess I thought a warning might be order, but none was issued
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Boy, did Brandon need that. His second triple of the year.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I sincerely hope they're considering making McNeil trade deadline trade bait.

Whatever do you mean?I love it too, but it's a tragic song, and they played a chorus of it every time Luis Guillorme came up, and it certainly didn't deliver the sort of energy that sustains a rally.Sort of like when they play "Piano Man" in the eighth-inning. A lot of people love that song, almost certainly moreso in Mets territory. I don't judge them, but a story of middle-aged people watching their lives slip away is no way to trigger the energy to produce late-inning fireworks.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 And that endorsement of Dedniel Nuñez as bullpen darkhorse is suddenly looking prescient.Or at least, it is to me. Not so much to Carlos Mendoza, who is lifting him in the middle of an inning after three consecutive strikeouts, with three different pitches working.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Nunez is rockin' for now. These past couple years, the Mets have been really good at putting no-name relievers out there that kill it initially for at least a short while.Brigham:First 16 games—2.76 ERA, .130 BAA, 10.5 K/9Hartwig: First 11 games—2.87 ERACurtiss:First 6 games—1.23 ERA, .125 BAAGarrett:First 14 games of 2024—0.42 ERA, .169 BAA, 15.0 K/9First 17 games of 2024—0.72 ERA, .195 BAA, 14.8 K/9First 21 games of 2024—2.54 ERA, .229 BAA, 13.7 K/9Reid-Foley:First 6 games of 2023—0.00 ERA, .100 BAA, 16.5 K/9First 10 games of 2024—0.00 ERA, .037 BAA, 13.0 K/9First 16 games of 2024—2.25 ERA, .196 BAA, 11.8 K/9Coonrod:First 7 games—1.69 ERA, .063 BAA
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 A long foul ball aside, putting Reed Garrett back in the middle innings looks like it may be the way get him back in gear. Now the WHO'S CLOSING mystery lingers. John Franco was here yesterday. How's his arm?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Never actually seen Torrens before. I swear, Venezuelans have some of the most European-looking Latin Americans. Former Met Ender Inciarte is another one. Francisco Cervelli also comes to mind.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Ottavino for the eighth sure makes it look like the Mets are planning to throw Smith right into the ninth-inning fire.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Damn, Taylor always looks confused going back.
