I love it too, but it's a tragic song, and they played a chorus of it every time Luis Guillorme came up, and it certainly didn't deliver the sort of energy that sustains a rally.



Sort of like when they play "Piano Man" in the eighth-inning. A lot of people love that song, almost certainly moreso in Mets territory. I don't judge them, but a story of middle-aged people watching their lives slip away is no way to trigger the energy to produce late-inning fireworks.

And that endorsement of Dedniel Nuñez as bullpen darkhorse is suddenly looking prescient.



Or at least, it is to me. Not so much to Carlos Mendoza, who is lifting him in the middle of an inning after three consecutive strikeouts, with three different pitches working.

Nunez is rockin' for now. These past couple years, the Mets have been really good at putting no-name relievers out there that kill it initially for at least a short while.
