Best wishes to everyone on Memorial Day. A recent column in The Washington Post argues that Memorial Day should be moved to July 3rd:

When you think "Mets and Dodgers" you think "Tylor Megill and Gavin Stone". That's the matchup. The Dodgers are cold. The Mets are not having won their last game and that's what counts. Stone only lasted 3 1/3 against the Mets on April 20th, giving up 2 ER while walking 5 (the Mets won 6-4).

If you count last names, Pud Galvin won over 300 games and is in the HOF.

Wednesday's game is at 4:10 so if they are going to have a split doubleheader it has to be tomorrow (not that I'm advocating for a split-DH, they shouldn't be allowed, but the poor owners need their gate revenue).

But alas, he's a Galvin, not a Gavin.

Gary noted yesterday how teams have recently had success against the Dodgers using a lefthanded opener. With a highly rested Jake Diekman, it seemed like the Mets had a real opening to give that a go.

It WAS on the schedule. Today's game has been banged.

There will be a single admission doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 4:10 PM.

Enjoy your day.

I guess things are ramping up for some boneshakers to plow through

the tri-state area but it's pretty freakin' nice out right now.
