The Mets are closing out the series with the Cubs today

Adrian Houser takes the hill. As good as Houser was in his first few starts he has come up short of late

There is some depth for backend starters with David Peterson and Megill being close for starters

I have concern for the depth at catching. Nido is the defacto #1. Narvaez is 33-163 .202 as a Met with two knocks and Austin Allen is the only Syracuse catcher with any MLB game experience

No one could have predicted Francisco to be out for two months at the outset of the season but finding a seasoned backup would not be a bad idea

I was thinking this will be his last hurrah if he does poorly,

but I think I thought the same his last start so...

I have to wonder how many more chances Houser is going to get. He's really just benefiting from the lack of alternatives.

Joey Lucchesi is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in the 'Cuse, though he's also walked 15 batters in 32 innings. I'd think he'd be next up for a spot start, already being on the 40 man and all. Does Hauser have options?

There are certainly alternatives.

More notable to me is a rare day on the bench for Francisco Lindor and DJ Stewart batting third.

Yeah Lucchesi does seem like the best choice to replace Houser if he poops all over the mound today, figuratively or literally.

Let's hope this discussion inspires Houser to throw a three-hit shutout today.

Wendle should make decisions like George Constanza-- do the complete opposite of everything he would normally do.

Baty is flashing the leather

Love to see him get a couple of hits today to complete the package

What the judges were looking for is "How is José Iglesias doing in Syracuse?"

The Houser tenure with the Mets must end after today unless Stearns refuses to acknowledge his mistake.
