The battle for New York begins in South Florida, as the Gulf Coast-loving Yankees take a ride across the state to the Sargasso side of the peninsula.

It's a pitched battle as guys with agentive nouns for first names lock horns, with lefthander Tanner Tully toeing the bump for the invading enemy, while Tylor Megill — fighting to catch on at the back off the Flushing rotation — defends for the Mets.

The Mets remain deliberate about when to reveal Jeff McNeil to the world, but Harrison Bader is diabolically being revealed for the first time as a Met against his former teammates.

If you haven't been paying attention so far, today might be a good day to start, as the Mets are fielding something that looks pretty close to an Opening Day lineup.

Drink, I'm told, will flow. Blood, according to independent accounts, will spill.

They've finally decided to put Jeter at third, where he belongs.

Oh, wait.

Never mind.

A leadoff four-pitch walk by Megill is followed by two strikeouts.

Volpe stole second at this point and went to third on what was scored a throwing error by Álvarez, but it was really a fielding error as Francisco Lindor (I think) got the ball knocked out of his glove. No damage as a groundout to second ended the inning.

I was not aware that Harrison is a Member of the Tribe.

Sweet that the Yankees had gotten three runs back but then decided to run themselves out of the inning.

Good to see the booth talk about "effective spin rate" being a key to getting batters to miss without having the velocity, a half inning after Sean Reid-Foley struck out the side.

On the other hand, this isn't a game broadcast, so much as an interview show.

Maybe it's just me but even if I had scripted questions for Boone when he stopped to take out his pitcher I would have asked him "why now?" and "do you handle pitching changes differently in ST?"
