bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 My choices weren't as good:"I Met A Man From Korea""Choi-gevalt!"Look at his 2019. Maybe he can do that again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Tell me you were hoping to get Vogelbach back on a minor-league deal, without getting Vogelbach back on a minor league deal.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 I've always been jealous that he has an awesome name like Ji Man Choi. And I get the John Smith of Korean names. Now he gets to play for the Mets.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 I remember getting a real kick out of Choi during the 2020 WS with Tampa. He hit well (5/17 w/1 HR), but more than that he had a similar kind of roly-poly athleticism that Pablo Sandoval displayed early in his career w/the Giants. I remember some wicked acrobatic splits while digging out throws at 1B that seemed impossible given his thick body. And I'm not sure how much English he knew but he seemed up on all the dugoutsilliness while genuinely having a good time with his teammates and vice versa. In short, he was just fun to watch androot for. That said he's soon to be 33 y/o and doesn't really hit enough for a guy confined to 1B/LF/DH and barely hit at allin 2023 so it's unclear what his path to a roster spot will be. He apparently signed a split minor/major lg contract.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 And speaking of Pablo Sandoval, he is now attempting a comeback to MLB at the age of 37 and two years away from the game.Maybe somebody will put together an all fat guys team featuring the likes of Vogelbach, Choi, Panda, Voit.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Decent power, decent OPS+. Good minor league depth.
