Tonka has to be one of the most well-traveled pitchers to come through Queens, including R.A. Dickey. He appeared in the big leagues for all or part of 2013 to 2017, and had been bouncing around ever since — Atlantic League, Mexican League, NPB, before finally resurfacing with 80 innings for Atlanta last year. Two different tenures as a Long Island Duck are included in there.



His older sister is married to former MLB slugger Jason Kubel. That's a good note to you kids. If you want to get the girl, make a good impression on her family by helping her little brother into Major League Baseball. The two in-laws even briefly played together on the Twins in 2014, as Kubel's big-league career was winding down and Tonkin's was getting started.
