So now they're officially the last place (though still 5G>.500) Yanx as they lose and the BoSox win out on the left coast late last night.

It was their second straight day via an extra-inning walk-off, this time to Anaheim in the 10th after Ohtani tied it with a HR (followed

by an epic bat flip) in the 7th,

The HR was his ML-leading 34th which also puts him on a pace for 60. He also leads the league in triples (6). SIXTY!! .... IN TRIPLES!!

The triples part reminds me of the rime Hank Steinbrenner went crying -- to the press, to MLB, and to anyone else who would listen -- about

how those cretins in the NL were responsible for C M Wang's injured foot after he stepped on home plate funny during an IL game under NL

park rules.

The sad part about it all is that his argument, the one where pitchers are too delicate to do anything besides stay on the hill, is the one that

eventually prevailed.

Arizona takes a 3 run lead (16 - 13) into the bottom of the 9th in Atlanta after raking and chasing closer Raisel Iglesies in the top half.

A lot of high volume scoring last night as 12 of the 30 teams put up double digits runs.

The night included three separate 11-10 games!!:

Mets 11 - ChiSox 10

Giants 11 - Reds 10

Royals 11 - Tigers 10

Snakes 16 - Braves 13

Cubs 17 - Nats 3

Dodgers 10 - Orioles 3

Guardians 10 - Pirates 1

Twins 10 - Mariners 3

Oh yeah, and the Yanx lost again in Anaheim.

Yanx 1 - Angels 5 and, coincidentally, 1-5 is also the Yanx record since the ASB

Braves lose -- that's four in a row plus two series in a row (finish up with ARZ tomorrow)

Phils lose

Marlins lose -- six straight (swept by BAL & StL)

Nats lose

and, as I'm typing ...

Yanx lose -- that's six of seven and 5-11 in July

Combine the above with a NYM win and that's like sextuple happiness!!!!!!

A very minor thing, but the Rays designated Yonny Chirinos for assignment. It's basically his first year back from TJS, and the Rays had used him 15 times despite keeping him on the roster the whole season, so his erratic form was predictable. But he could be an above-average fifth starter next year for a song.

The Cardinals also gave the DFA to Genesis Cabrera. He's a lefty with upside, and our bullpen currently doesn't even have upside going for them.

Neither might amount to anything, but they are no-risk pickups that could be useful parts of next year's team.

Losing first place after putting up a big lead to start off the season, the Rays suddenly realized that hiding players on the roster for next year is a luxury they can't afford.

Meanwhile, Bryce Harper has suddenly become Bartolo Colon, heading to the plate on occasion just to take his turn, but with no intent to actively participate.

Ashie has picked a bad day to sleep in. 90 minutes to first pitch.

There's never a good Dueteronomy joke around when you need one.

This weekend's slate includes a 1st vs 1st clash with the Braves hitting Milwaukee. Currently 2-0 Brews, top 2nd.

oe: and now it's 3-2 in favor of the visiting team, because Braves

Phils, with Bryce Harper at 1B for the first time, are in Cleveland. 3-1 Guardians in the 5th

Marlins are getting thumped at home by the Rox

No, but it's important to note that Genesis ain't Ruth.

"You know when the Rays decided they had seen enough of Genesis Cabrera! In the big inning!"

"Mercy sakes, Cranepoolios! if I knew this was where I could exchange Bible puns with my homies,

I'd have logged on a lot sooner! I was just turning on the old computie to block Todd from visiting

any more Mighty Ducks sites! Those movies give him nightmares! Me too, come think of it!"

Braves up 6-4 in the 9th

Kirby Yates gets two quick outs but now walks two in a row. So tying runs on base, winning run at the plate.

That takes a Lott of understanding.

My son and his wife, her dad and his friend are at the Yankees game. Even though Cooby Jr is a guardians fan, I know he'll have fun. His father in law (the Yankee fan of the group) is great fun to be with

Ozzie Albies Ks with bases loaded in the 9th so the Brewers hold on to win 4-3

Braves led much of the game on Austin Riley's 3R HR, his 6th in 5 games.

So I remember when, while talking about the Braves earlier in the season, Gary said that it looks like the league may have caught up to 2022 ROY Michael Harris II

But upon further review ... not so much

First 38 games this year:

BA = .163; OPS = .490; K- Rate = 25%

Last 37 games

BA = 368; OPS = 1021; K-Rate = 14%

The Braves just keep on rolling, as the beat the Brewers 4-2 today. they bring up yet another prospect, reliever Daysebel Hernandaez, who strike out the first 3 batters he faced in his MLB debut. The Braves are a well oiled machine that just keeps rolling forward.

I tried longer than was probably healthy to come up with a pun on Deuteronomy or Leviticus, but came up empty.

Just when you think the MFYs are going to sink far behind in the race for a playoff spot, KC pops up on their schedule.

Should those games count?

It's not like they're playing a real major league team.

And they swept the Royals this past weekend.

Again.

Due to Ronomy Howard, I couldn't watch the Andy Griffith Show.

Chirinos wasn't good enough for the Mets to make a waiver claim, but he was good enough for the Braves. Sigh.
