ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I think it was the COVID season or 2021 that DJ Stewart had some success with Orioles hitting decently and with power. Like Vogie Stewart is large bodied
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 WPIX 11 is case anyone is wondering
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Ronnie's fillating of the umpire is nauseating.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 So in four pitches the Mets lost their challenge and their left-fielder (plus a no-hitter).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 "I'll take "Things that Look Like a Groin," Dick!"If a guy goes down with a tweaked muscle, at least he's got a four-day break to rest it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Well, that was a thing. Right into Colónville.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 After all that, my groin hurts, too.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I'm not feeling the comeback mojo today - yet.Later
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 No Silver hammer eitherThat Musgrove guy again
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 The Pads are wearing their third home uni in three days.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Big chance by D.J. Stewart here to show his quality.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Three borderline pitches with two strikes this inning but Scherzer didn't get the call on any of them. And so even though he gets the 3rd out w/o a run, those non-calls are part of the reason he's over 80 pitches thru 4
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I've seen this many batters hit in a game before, but I'm pretty certain I haven't seen a single pitcher hit this many batters while pitching a shutout.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 The thing about that dropped popup is that I didn't see Alonso helping Álvarez out.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 3 singles + 4 HBPs = 0 runs due, in large part, to 3 GIDPsSomeone likely has devised a stat which doesn't merely count GIDPs but tallies them as a percentage of GIDP opportunities. And while I know it's possibly just a case of observational bias, I'm betting that the '23 NYM would be real high on that scale.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 This was/is an important game. It was the difference between winning 7 of 8 and having the 6-game winning streak feel like an aberration. It was the difference between momentum and confidence and neither of those. We had an alleged big-game pitcher on the mound and he failed. Maybe the injury and Buck's needless challenge hurt him but he should have been able to overcome both. This game was the difference between "are you saying there's a chance?" and "who can we trade?"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Marte kind of could be pinch-hitting for Stew here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 But D.J. works a walk with some umpy help.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Seven stranded and dropsy by Álvarez.Maybe needed a rest.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I'm rooting for the All Star Break now
