Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 That Lou Gehrig Day Sticker on the players' jerseys makes it look like they bought their jerseys off the rack and put them on without removing the marketing materials.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Cahna with a solid single and a steal of second to open the inning. Alvarez reaches on an erro and the Mets have 1st and 3rd with no out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 I don't like this aggressive version of Nimmo.Popping up on the first pitch is a deflater.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 McNeil and Nimmo, who used to be this wonderful contrast with each other, are now somehow suddenly transforming into the same hitter, each adopting the other's flaws.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 (edited) It's not often that you can say a GIDP ball would have improved your offense as Bassett Hound gets out of a 1st & 3rd/no out jam in six pitches. Edited June 2, 2023 by Guest
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 well, that was painful to watch. 1st and 3rd with no outs and top of the order feebly goes down without threatening to score.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Three first pitch pop-outs sandwiched around a K-looking in a four batter span. And now PO, K, PO, PO, K, GO in, I believe, 12 pitches
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 The difference between the front of the plate and the "mid-point", where Gary says Robo-ump is programmed to call strikes, is 4 inches deep. Ronnie is exaggerating the sideways movement of a pitch over that span.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 That seems meaningfully different from how umps call 'em now.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Dave Mlicki on SNY now, blast from the past!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Canha gets unlucky and SNY catches him cursing in slow motion replay
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Edgy MD wrote:That seems meaningfully different from how umps call 'em now.I read somewhere the robo-umps will be programed to take 'awesome'pitch-framing skills into account so more balls will be called strikes.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Let's induce the triple play
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Exciting to see them stick with Verlander so long.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 A triple play would have been more efficient
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 For a half inning that wasn't a lot of fun, that was a fun half inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 That was the selective version of Nimmo.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Edgy MD wrote:That seems meaningfully different from how umps call 'em now.The point is that Ronnie is backing the idea that pitches catching the front corner are going to be called balls on account of how R.U. is programmed. I contend that he's grossly over-selling the concept.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Friday Night Mets now 2-for-20 with no walks.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Nice inning for Leone. Kept us in there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 More Bassitt in the seventh.Nobody getting around on the pitch upstairs so far.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 1-snifflle, BJ's - mid 8th. Got 'em right where we want want 'em.

I contend that he's grossly over-selling the concept.I don't know if that is true (that the robot ump is essentially a 2 dimensional rather than 3 dimensional strikezone) but even if it were true, a 2 dimensional but consistent zone would still be an improvement over what we have now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 And Bassitt comes out with two out in the eighth. Thanks, Blue Jays.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Zimmo. You dumb bastard
