That Lou Gehrig Day Sticker on the players' jerseys makes it look like they bought their jerseys off the rack and put them on without removing the marketing materials.

Pete's struggles continue

McNeil and Nimmo, who used to be this wonderful contrast with each other, are now somehow suddenly transforming into the same hitter, each adopting the other's flaws.

It's not often that you can say a GIDP ball would have improved your offense as Bassett Hound gets out of a 1st & 3rd/no out jam in six pitches.

Three first pitch pop-outs sandwiched around a K-looking in a four batter span.

And now PO, K, PO, PO, K, GO in, I believe, 12 pitches

The difference between the front of the plate and the "mid-point", where Gary says Robo-ump is programmed to call strikes, is 4 inches deep. Ronnie is exaggerating the sideways movement of a pitch over that span.

I read somewhere the robo-umps will be programed to take 'awesome'

pitch-framing skills into account so more balls will be called strikes.

The point is that Ronnie is backing the idea that pitches catching the front corner are going to be called balls on account of how R.U. is programmed. I contend that he's grossly over-selling the concept.

I don't know if that is true (that the robot ump is essentially a 2 dimensional rather than 3 dimensional strikezone) but even if it were true, a 2 dimensional but consistent zone would still be an improvement over what we have now.
