Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 After their promising start, the Pirates have now lost 9 of their last 10 [WAS, TBRx3, TORx3, COL 2 of 3] and for the mostpart the games haven't been close [2-7, 1-4, 1-8, 2-3, 0-4, 2,8, 1-10, 2-0, 1-10, 3-4]
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 The Cardinals have decided their big free agent catcher Willson Contreras, just signed to a five-year contract, will no longer be catching.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 Not quite sure how a smart organization like StL couldn't have known about Contreras's defensive deficiencies while playing against him 19 times a years for the last half dozen or more seasons.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I've come to think that, for 20 years or more, St. Louis virtually always makes the right call with whatever free agent money they have. That's obviously not as true as all that, but seeing them eat it sure feels weird.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2023 Author Posted May 11, 2023 The Yanx, in AL East last place despite a 21-17 record and coming off a three game drubbing of pitiful Oakland (combined score of 28-10) are hosting the 1st place Rays for a four game set starting tonight in da Bronx. Rays just lost 2 of 3 to much improved Baltimore. Prior to that was a series in TB where the Rays took 2 of 3 from the Bombers in three one run games (the decisive finale in Xtras)MLBN tonight as well as the usual local channels.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 With the debut of the 20 y/o Eury Perez [born in 2003] for the Marlins that Gary was just talking about, there are now active major leaguers who are younger than the CPF
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 Chris Bassitt and the Jays will take at least a 3-0 lead into the 9th (though I doubt it'll be Bassitt pitching)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 Or maybe it will be.A CG 2-Hit shutout of the Braves. 2 BB, 8 K
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2023 Author Posted May 13, 2023 Braves just went PO, K, PO starting with the bases loaded and no outs during a tie game in the 7th ... so I temporarily feel Less bad about the NYM offensive futility.oe: especially when the Jays then throw up a 2-spot in bottom 74-2 Toronto as they start the 8th
