Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 The Mets have been out-scored 26 to 5 in the 1st inning over the first 32 games of the season.Discuss
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Well, they come home today and finally have a projectable rotation, rather than not knowing who's going more than one or two days ahead. That should or could address part of that. Brandon Nimmo getting his head straight would be nice, though.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2023 Author Posted May 5, 2023 Yeah, although it's not like they were scoring runs in the 1st when Nimmo was the hottest batter on the planet for a couple of weeks. I mean ... FIVE?!? Really?
Tamora Verified Member Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 As Edgy mentions Scherzer and more importantly Verlander present should help manage early innings. Despite Detroits last good pitching I believe from Rodriguez Verlander kept them in the game. They simply didn't connect or convert enough. They've struggled in games like the Braves series as pitching has struggled to prevent early leads. This has been compounded by the fact they've struggled to score as reliably since the Western road trip in the games I've seen. The bats will get hot again. But putting defensive pressure back onto the opponent through miserly pitching will really help players loosen up.Keeping the other teams quiet early and the game within reach like the Verlander performance will make all the difference to the hitters confidence. They'll figure it out soon, I hope….
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 The seven hits by the Mets were the most for any team in the organization today.Syracuse Game 1 - 4 hits, Game 2 - 1 hitBinghamton - 3 hitsBrooklyn - 3 hitsSt Lucie - rained outLater
vtmet7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Mets scored 3 in the first today, and it still didn't help...as #8 used to say "They give you cash, which is almost as good as money"...I mean..."It's getting late pretty early around here" (or something along those lines)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Yes it isIf they can find a trade partner for Canha or Pham they might want to avail themselves.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 McCartney's "My Salamander" off 1993's Getting Closer is pretty rough

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 Also, Mets were shutout eight times in 2022.They're already at seven this year which translates to a pace that would put them near 30
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Compare my lineup above to the one being trotted out tonight. Very different
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 That's unsurprising, since that lineup would be impossible for Buck Showalter to actually turn in.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 In the future. It's a suggestion and you know that
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 You are openly comparing it to the lineup posted this evening, to distinguish your work from the work of the manager. You are asking us to observe that, and so I did, and that's why I responded. But the manager has to live in the real world. You and I do not.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 I put that up long before today's lineup was postedPlease stopOr read the time stamp. Geezus
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 That lineup was also impossible last night.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 The idea was to look back at the lineup I had suggested with what was actually turned in by BuckYour response is you really can't because players in my lineup are not available tonightClose??
