1. Surely it's only a matter of days. They keep creating situations to win multiple times per game, just not converting. Hopefully Scherzer (I believe he's due to pitch) can keep it close again later today. Let's go Mets!
2. Nice play Baty, good stretch Pete, yogas working!
3. Wow, those pink bats need to go Perez nearly lost an eye. We've had more broken bats in this game than I've seen all year.
4. Oooph, 3 left on with 2 outs in hand and Vogie caught chasing outside the zone that would've been a walk on a full count. How we don't rue this inning.
5. Bases loaded, let's go boys! Make your mothers proud!
6. Game officially postponed. Boooo.
7. Alvarez. It's the little things like the arm around Robertson in the Nationals game to calm down the veteran in a long spell and buy him a breather.
8. =ashie62 post_id=125358 time=1684024266 user_id=90] Has not been called yet
9. Below is the slugging percentage for the Mets (team rankings.com), as mentioned with batting average above being poor, the worrying thing I noticed checking out some of these stats is we've recently being losing to most of these sides and are scheduled to play the monstrously good Rays and Guardians who are worrying below us. Is this another side like Detroit and Cincy that are going to use the Mets to get their bats hot? I'm a little concerned this habit of losing may continue for another 2-3 weeks. How long can any semblance of morale be maintained within the clubhouse when expectations are so high? There are bright spots like Baty, Alvarez, Sengas progression, Verlander and decent bull pen pitching with an unreasonably high workload. If they can string some wins together, win a series again I think they can still get it going. Yet the clock is running. 21 NY Mets 0.382 22 Minnesota 0.381 23 Chi Sox 0.381 24 Cincinnati 0.379 25 Miami 0.379 26 Seattle 0.373 27 Houston 0.367 28 Detroit 0.359 29 Washington 0.358 30 Cleveland 0.333
10. Gotta be honest your more likely to get jumped out and about in London itself than get into trouble at the football. It's not the 80s anymore. If you're coming all the way you could even hop across to Paris for a couple of days. Loads to do. It's one of those cities no matter how much you do you always find more for next time.

12. There were enough opportunities in this one. I can't believe when we finally start scoring EARLY, the pitching finds a new spectacular way to suck. I hope we break the trend in Cincinnati of making poor teams look great. RISP - 5-for-9. LOB - 10.

14. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FvivB6yX0AU6KeR?format=jpg&name=large> Maybe the Mets should make a move for this guy?
15. Does Buck consider getting Senga to pitch more frequently or does he need to remain on his Japanese pitching schedule? Just thinking it might relieve some pressure on the pen, especially with Verlander and Scherzer now back.
16. RISP - 4-for-8 LOB - 7 end of 4. Could rue these missed chances. 4-3 Mets.
17. That extra Baty run that should have scored in the first is looking more and more important.
18. Wahoo Baty! 3-1 Mets. Keep ‘em coming.
19. This feels familiar. Apparently only Oakland have given up more home runs at 57 to the Mets 50.

Sometimes the physical and mental becomes a chicken/egg thing as far as which predates the other. There's a good documentary about it from the New York Times still around and it is a combination of the two. Mental pressure/expectation as a kid and physical injuries from fighting every game. With a kid who just wanted to skate and score. A kid, aand not the only one, who was given the sole option of becoming a goon to make it as a professional player. A tough position to be in when you're dreams right there but you have to do something horrible to fulfil it.
21. Have a fantastic time for all their in person this afternoon. Get pumped and get some hits! Let's go Mets!
22. I don't envy Joey Luchessi for tomorrow keeping them to 2 runs to try and win within this current offence.
23. Frayed Knot wrote: Nice to hear Bill Pulsipher talk about mental health Forgive my ignorance but I'm not in the states. Has mental health been a taboo subject in baseball kinda like hockey? For example, Derek Boogard issues at the Rangers/Wild never really came out in full until after his passing. As well as similar issues for the likes of Jordan TooToo who has discussed them openlysince retiring. Not being mentally "tough" has long been seen as a sign of weakness in sports. As Ronnie said, not only would that not have been accepted as an excuse in his day but you'd be ridiculed for even bringing it up. The difference between what Pulsipher went through and the hockey players you bring up is that weren't their issues caused by, or at keast exacerbated by, physical trauma brought on by the game itself. The mental weakness is applicable to Dereks situation and yes there was physical issues as an enforcer. However, Derek had long term depression from junior as he never really liked fighting but it was his only route to the nhl. The depression exacerbated as his situation worsened and enforcers became less relevant in the game. The inability to openly talk about this and seek help certainly was an issue for him and others. I'm glad it's getting better in all sports as he was a gentle giant and a lovely guy at heart.
