batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The Mets will not hold an Old-Timer's game this season.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Don't know why they aren't, but I'm ok with this, maybe every 3 to 5 years would be cool
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Batmags I don't get the thread title, but I'm a bit disappointed. Last year was so nice!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 The unexpected star of last year's festivities was Baldwin, Long Island's Steve Dillon, who appeared despite having pitched only 4 2/3 innings in a career that ended 58 years prior. He took the mound at 79 years of age, faced two batters, and threw strikes.[fimg=500]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b7/Steve_Dillon_pitches_on_Old-Timers%27_Day%2C_Aug_27_2022_%28cropped%29.jpg[/fimg]
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Cohen is just mailing it in this year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Maybe he'll have the number font on the back of the Seaver statue fixed for opening day.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Let's enjoy some warmups from the 1963 Old-Timers Day, when the pre-Cohen Mets made sure it would be an annual event.
