Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I used to be somebody around here. For most of last year, Jacob deGrom was unavailable, and the starting rotation was a bunch of planets revolving around me. And it was good. Then deGrom was gone and it looked to be sort of locked in. As if to reinforce that, Taijuan Walker and Chris Bassitt wandered off to other locations as well. But then they went and brought Justin Verlander in, and folks started looking at me, as if unsure which one I was.I'm Max Scherzer. I've got three Cy Youngs, 201 career victories, and I'm coming off a season in which I posted a 2.29 ERA. It didn't end well, but I'm a big part of the reason it didn't end earlier, you know? A BIG part, and I intend to be so again. So it's 2023, and you're home in your warm beds, or sitting at your stupid desks, while I'm amping it up in Port St. Lucie. What I'm amping up to, however, remains an open question. If you have the courage — and I doubt you do — you can answer this question here and now.Prove me wrong.[FIMG=450]https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2022/0519/r1014862_1296x864_3-2.jpg[/FIMG] [FIMG=300]https://static01.nyt.com/images/2022/04/20/multimedia/20kepner-Mets-1/20kepner-Mets-1-mobileMasterAt3x.jpg[/FIMG][FIMG=321]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS9DL-nnj3UiIYhVayHd7GIvhxz9kLzjezcmg&usqp=CAU[/FIMG] [FIMG=429]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSRdU6otAyb-n6vNrYGNO1oABqoFwuW3JyH9g&usqp=CAU[/FIMG]
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Ooooh... I don't know. Something tells me I should be spending more time worrying about Max Scherzer than I am.I'm feeling a bit pessimistic. I'll say 10-9, 3.75 ERA.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 12-8, 3.00 ERA. Will miss a portion of the season, hopefully not the end of it.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 14-7, 3.40. He'll give up a buttload of home runs, especially with RF fence closer.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 8, 2023 Author Posted March 8, 2023 This park probably already has set a record for the most times moving in the fences.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Remember the hullabaloo when they first moved in the fence ? Anyway, I'm sure Max will win 15 games , lose 9 deal with some niggling issues
