batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Randy Tate's 23 starts, all with the '75 Mets, are the most starts in major league history by a pitcher who only appeared in one MLB season.Tate holds (or held) another MLB all-time record, though I can't recall exactly what it is. But it has something to do with Tate not ever getting a single hit in the majors.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 As I read, my money was on John Maine for most non-deGrom Mets starts without starting for anybody else, because I remembered his brief sunset with the Marlins included no starts.What I didn't remember somehow were his nine-pre-Mets starts for the Orioles.

I remember him coming out of the bullpen as an emergency starter and returning there after the regular starters got healthy. But he started three games for KC in his one season there.Later
