There are probably a billion links out there on a search for Tom Seaver's obituary, and probably dozens of obituaries carried by hundreds or thousands of outlets, but you have something closer to the corner of the market on the John Milner obit.

The top six hits are all obituaries. After John Milner, we get Marv Throneberry, Dock Ellis, Gil Hodges, Danny Frisella, and Lindsey Nelson. The most-clicked article that's not an obituary is about Bill Shea and Mayor Wagner's reaction to the NL expansion announcement.

1. John Milner, 50, A Met in the '70s

2. In tough times, Marv made Mets marvelous

3. Flamboyant star pitcher for Pirates in the 1970s

4. Born in Middle America, Tested on Iwo Jima

5. Crash Victim Frisella Mourned

6. Met originals recall a voice, forever plaid

7. Wagner, Shea Jubilant Over NL's Decision

The http://leaptoad.com/mets/clipping.php?filename=00350.jpgJay Hook article is interesting. One thing I didn't know is that he would wait in the on-deck circle when he was up next, just as a position player would, and that apparently got some noses out of joint.

I'll be checking this out. Always liked Tim Foli; maybe because he wore glasses

I like how Donnelly and Newsday put a two-city dateline on that RFK story. Nicely done. I also like that that Hodges stepped out and spoke on the team's behalf, letting most of 'em off the hook.
