Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 I tried to find a Twibby thread last night but I guess we hadn't put one up this week.Anyhow, the Rays supposedly just fielded MLB's first all-Latin American-born lineup and rode it to an 11-0 win in Toronto.Manager Kevin Cash supposedly didn't realize he had made history until halfway through the game. I'm not sure I buy that, but I would have guessed Florida/Miami had started an all-Latino lineup a dozen times over by now. I imagine he consciously felt compelled to intentionally pack the lineup on Roberto Clemente Day but hadn't realized that there hadn't been a precedent. The thunder from the South includedYandy Díaz, 3b, CubaRandy Arozarena, rf, CubaWander Franco, ss, The Dominican RepublicHarold Ramírez, 1b, ColombiaManuel Margot, dh, The Dominican RepublicDavid Peralta, lf, VenezuelaIsaac Paredes, 2b, MéxicoRené Pinto, c, VenezuelaJose Siri, cf, The Dominican RepublicUnfortunately they only kinda made history, ruining it by starting Shane McClanahan, from The Republic of Baltimore, on the mound. So, yeah, history was made if you squint and pretend that pitchers are no longer part of a starting lineup. Also, sadly, no actual puertorriqueños. The Mets beat them in that department.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Scoreless thru inning #1 in AtlantaLefties Max Fried & Ranger Suarez are the opening night headliners.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Starting bottom 7 in Atlanta. 2 - 1 Philly
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 A walk, followed by an Acuna 2R HR to start bottom 8th gives the Braves a 3 - 2 lead
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Seranthony Dominguez, who sounds like a representative from sone out-laying Commonwealth country to the Queen's funeral this weekend, is getting smacked around in the 8th in Atlanta. Now 4 - 2 Braves.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I switched to the game in Atlanta after the Mets ended, just in time to see the Phillies cough up the lead.A Philadelphia loss would register as a Happy Outcome, but the Happier Outcome would be a Braves loss.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I knew I shouldn't have put it on. Now I'm getting agitated haha...
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 The Braves have now scored six in the eighth. Might as well turn off the TV.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Brewers came back to beat the Yankees, too. Just goes to show, you know, fuck those guys in the Bronx and the Phillies also for not helping.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Typical Braves game, get two-hit through seven innings then win going away.I guess you can say typical Phils too, or at least as far as their bullpen goes. The Brews are far enough away to where they can get credited for two wins each time they beat the Yanx as far as I'm concerned.I still hold out a tiny hope of a late season MFY collapse even though I know it's not going to happen. After seeing their lead slipdown to 3.5 games it's now back to 5.5
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2022 Author Posted September 17, 2022 Yeah, I think it's more of a typical Phillies game. The Braves of the second half of 2022 have been getting ahead early.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Last season, and I think early this one, the Braves were scoring a ridiculous pct of their runs late in games. And we should note Albert's #698 last night. StL has a DH w/Cincy today. Game #1 is already in the books with a Cardinal win but no 699.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Yanx lose, Blue Jays win. Division lead now at 4.5Maybe.... just maybe.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 One day after being reinstated from the 60 day IL due to a broken foot, Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies had to leave tonight's game against the Phillies with a broken right pinkie finger.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 The Phillies scored one in the top of the 8th and now trail the Braves 4-3 in Atlanta.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Head-first slidin' Albies was.Cards sweep a pair from Reds, including the night cap 1 - 0 in 11 when a throw home hit the runner and bounced away. The runner, Arenado, was several Feet inside the line (throw came from 3B) but I guess that's not illegal except when running to 1st
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Kenley Jansen, who's been an adventure, on in the 9th for the save.Viewing -- FOTop of the order for Schwarber ... and he fouls out on the first pitch.Alex Bohm is the last hope.Strike. Three. Looking.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Hey Phillies, thanks for nothing.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Oh, yay! Bases loaded for the Mets. I would settle for a deep fly ball from Vogelbach at this point.Whoops, posted in the wrong thread. Meant this for the IGT. Luckily, Vogelbach came through with the base hit to drive in 2.
