Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 I didn't realize until sometime today that this was a 19 strikeout game for the NYM staff!12 of JdG's 17 recorded outs were K'sSo were 4 of Joely's 7, and all 3 outs notched by DiazWowzers! And maybe Strider Spencer (or whatever his name is) can figure out why one club managed to get the lion's share if the soft hits. That in order to get soft contact you first have to have, y'know, contact.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Like everybody else, I thought deGrom was losing stamina at the end of his last start. He seemed to struggle to retire the last out he recorded, needing close to 10 pitches to finally strikeout that batter before he he then gave up a walk and a HR. Bur deGrom said he felt fine at the end and wasn't running out of gas. Jake attributed the walk and HR allowed to mental mistakes he made.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 well we make mental mistakes when we're tired - he hasn't had to do what he did for over a year. Concentration takes stamina - it's no surprise that he started to get perfect.
