G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Four-game Series. Brooms have a way to go, mainly through Alcantra.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 Right, thanks. Forgot we have a new three-day holiday weekend thingy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Before McCann went down, he was splitting starts with Nido on something like a 60/40 basis, and when he got hurt, that ratio continued with Nido getting the 60 and Mazeika getting the 40, but it's sure been a lot more Nido of late. He's hitting the ball hard but not getting the results. Mazeika just isn't hitting. But look at Nido here, getting the call for a day game after a night game, against an All-Star quality righthander. He may have thrown a ball pointlessly into centerfield in the ninth inning last night, but he has the lion's share of Buck's faith.

[TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/miami-marlins-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-mets-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH]

[TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH][TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH]

=#00A3E0]1=#EF3340]Jazz Chisholm, Jr. (L)=#00A3E0]2b=#FF5910]1=#002D72]Brandon Nimmo (L)=#FF5910]cf

=#00A3E0]2=#EF3340]Jon Berti (R)=#00A3E0]3b=#FF5910]2=#002D72]Starling Marte (R)=#FF5910]rf

=#00A3E0]3=#EF3340]Avisail Garcia (R)=#00A3E0]dh=#FF5910]3=#002D72]Francisco Lindor (S)=#FF5910]ss

=#00A3E0]4=#EF3340]Miguel Rojas (R)=#00A3E0]ss=#FF5910]4=#002D72]Pete Alonso (R)=#FF5910]1b

=#00A3E0]5=#EF3340]Lewin Diaz (L)=#00A3E0]1b=#FF5910]5=#002D72]Jeff McNeil (L)=#FF5910]lf

=#00A3E0]6=#EF3340]Jacob Stallings (R)=#00A3E0]c=#FF5910]6=#002D72]Eduardo Escobar (R)=#FF5910]3b

=#00A3E0]7=#EF3340]Bryan De La Cruz (R)=#00A3E0]cf=#FF5910]7=#002D72]Luis Guillorme (L)=#FF5910]2b

=#00A3E0]8=#EF3340]Jerar Encarnacion (R)=#00A3E0]rf=#FF5910]8=#002D72]Nick Plummer (L)=#FF5910]dh

=#00A3E0]9=#EF3340]Luke Williams (R)=#00A3E0]lf=#FF5910]9=#002D72]Tomas Nido (R)=#FF5910]c

[TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH]

=#00A3E0]=#EF3340]Sandy Alcantara (R)=#00A3E0]sp=#FF5910]=#002D72]Chris Bassitt (R)=#FF5910]sp

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 I think Buck likes Nido. Didn't he remind us in a post-gamer that Tomas wona batting title in the minor leagues or am I thinking of something else?
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Is something like a regular starting 9 and batting order beginning to emerge? I hope so. Buck kept switching things up too much for my taste, and it seems my request for some stability has been heard,

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Wait, I'm confused at how that's a no."Did Buck say this thing about Nido?""No, that was Buck, talking about Nido.""OK."
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 Being the best at any level beating out hundreds of players is a little morecommendable than a cub scout basket-weaving merit badge.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Nido is objectively a terrible major league hitter, but he's (a) good defensively for the most part, ( better than Mazeika, and © the only other catcher on the roster. So you play him.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 and (d) he weaves a mean basket.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Yeah, I love a good Nido Basket.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 MLB decreed that all east coast games cannot start earlier than 1:30 to give Peacock more of an exclusive window for their "Sunday Leadoff" game (which the Mets are part of next Sunday.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Bassitt looking good pitching at the knees in the first, though it took a few tries to find an out pitch for Garcia.

You just allowed as to how winning a batting title in the low minors several years ago wasn't exactly the most reassuring praise of Nido's batting skills you could have possibly heard from Buck's oleaginous mouth.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Gotta love Nimmo's batting eye. Ya throw him something low and inside and he looks at it like "You think I'm gonna budge this bat off my shoulder for that weak shit?"
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 The Marlins' announcing team is positively creaming over Marte's build, particularly his upper arms. "It's the gun show today, boys and girls!" "Man, is that one tight shirt!" "The man is popping out of his clothing, daddy!" "Oh, Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are callin'"
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Marlins announcer sez Plummer looks exactly like Juan Soto at the plate.Does not hit like Juan Soto. K, ends inning.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Bassitt throwing strikes, ahead on the batters, on the black.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Couldn't put Berti away. Starts him off 0-2, but ended up walking him on pitches that weren't close.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Alcantra can deal with the best. Very frustrating.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 He seems to have the same game plan on everybody. Sooner or later, somebody is gonna guess right on that change.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Nice strike 'em out/throw 'em out DP!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Yup.On the other side, the Mets are doing a terrific job pounding the top of the ball downward. But Marte GIVES NO SHITS AND DRIVES A TRIPLE!!
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Marte takes as many bases as he can because he knows that they are hard to come by
