-- One day after getting no-hit for 8 innings (but winning), the Pirates extended that streak to 12 straight hitless innings before finally getting a single in the 5th then two more in the 6th at Wrigley.

They never did score however as there was much less drama in this one once their staff coughed up an 8-run 1st inning en route to a 9-0/3-hit shellacking.

-- Braves got 2-hit by Freddie Peralta (plus two relievers) and the Brewers, losing 1-0 on a 6th inning Wild Pitch

-- Marlins trounced the Nats 8-2

-- Phils were on the left coast all week so had Monday off; will host the Padres starting Tuesday

-- Yanx won again, but it was against Baltimore so that only counts for like a half-win.

now that's what a real skunking looks like Noah....

[bLOCKQUOTE]Syndergaard (3-2) allowed six runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks while taking a loss against the Rangers on Monday. He recorded two outs, including one strikeout.

Syndergaard took the mound with a 3-0 lead but he couldn't escape the first inning and ended up taking an ugly loss. [/bLOCKQUOTE]

Phils & Padres playing a game in the 1980s: powder blues & maroon for the home team while the visitors sport the burgers & mustard motif.

An RBI Single in the 4th by Cano has the Spanish Fathers up one-zip.

While we were bitching about the snow-out and analyzing John Denver's career, ...

the Braves won,

Marlins list (to the Braves)

Phils list, Nats lost

so the night could have been worse. At least now I'll get to see this game ... at least the first one.

Orioles & Rays managed to go 13 innings last night, not an easy thing to do with the ghost runner rules.

Both scored two in the 10th, then once each in the 11th, then put up zeros in the 12th. O's won in bottom 13 on a 2R HR. That makes it two consecutive walk-off HR wins for them.

The Orioles, who have been playing John Denver's "TGIaCB" for the seventh inning stretches since ... back when there was a John Denver, pull off a sweet trifecta:

  1. beating Tampa walkoff style in the 13th on a two-run homer from Rougned Odor,

  2. signing rehabbing ace John Means to a two-year deal to buy out his arbitration;

  3. calling up their top prospect, catcher Adley Rutschman, who incredibly has already played at high A, AA, and AAA this season.

Phils avoided the sweep despite falling behind in the 10th then getting their free runner thrown out at 3rd for the first out of the inning. We're down to last strike before Muncy error let tying and winning runs score

MFY fans booing Chapman off the mound. Everything is obviously going the Yanx way but Chapman has given up runs in 5 straight appearances now including today where his first pitch went for a tiebreaking home run, then a walk, wild pitch and RBI double. 3-1 White Sox in the 8th

Somebody pointed out in one of the papers today that Aroldis is an anagram for Rolaids.

ESPN has thus far shown about 50% of tonight's SNB game (Yanx hosting CHW) on a split screen while interviews and whatnot command the majority of screen time.

Once again, ESPN doesn't think we tuned in to watch baseball, they think we tuned in to watch ESPN.

The ChiSox have had their share of injuries to some of their promising young stars, but they also seem like one of those teams that is perpetually two years away from being two years away.

iow, they still kinda suck

ChiSuxx load the bases with no outs and don't come close to scoring: two force outs at home then a K. Couldn't get the ball past the pitcher's mound.

FINALLY!! on their 11th & 12th hits of the game, the South-Siders notch their first and second runs with 2 outs in top 8th.

And now Tim Anderson gets the last word w/a 3R HR off Miguel Castro and it's suddenly 5-0

Michael Kopech for the Pale Hose was perfect into the 7th.

Yanx have 2 BBs and a single thru 7

Cards romp over the Pirates 18-4, with Albert Pujols hitting two homers. He's now 13 short of Alex Rodriguez for fourth-place all-time.

Yadier Molina made his pitching debut in that game. How often do you see a blowout so severe that the winning team puts a position player on the mound?

Like two weeks ago when the same team did it with Pujols?

Trevor Story (BOS) and Sandy Alcantara (MIA) are ML players of the week

Story got a big deal from Boston so he could assault the Grern Monster, yet had one HR to show for it coming into this past week. Now he had seven.

Alcantara threw 17 innings in two starts (vs WAS & ATL) and allowed a total of 1 ER on 9 hits.
