There's a strong argument that as of today, the Mets have the best, healthiest, and most complete roster they've had all year.

If Carrasco hits the injured list, the Mets might be in a spot where they could call up somebody else.

They might have to add two pitchers for Sunday's doubleheader in Phillie, but they have four games until then.

They might end up starting Peterson and Williams that day. So much for Subtle Distinctions Bring Clean Work.

When they needed to add someone who can play the infield (before they added Marrero) I though they might sign Didi Gregorius, who was released Aug 4th, still hasn't signed with another club, and is only just 32 yrs. old.

But then I noticed he is only a shortstop and the team needed someone to play second and third, too.

Carrasco will hit the injured list (3 to 4 weeks) and Baty (yep) is en route.

The way things are shaking out:

Nogosek for Carrasco (IL).

R.J. Alvarez for Medina (option).

Baty for Escobar (likely IL; kid may not arrive til Wednesday).

Nogosek has had great minor league stats. He has to show that he's not just a AAAA pitcher.

Here comes Yolmer.

The New York Mets today announced that the club has claimed infielder INF Yolmer Sánchez off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. Sánchez, 30, was designated for assignment by Boston on August 16. He appeared in 14 games for the Red Sox this season, making 12 starts at second base. He has played in 672 games over his eight-year major league career with Chicago-AL (2014-2020) and Boston (2022), including 428 appearances at second base, 204 games at third base and 16 games at shortstop.

He Ranks seventh in MLB with a .969 fielding percentage at third base (min. 200 games) and ninth with a .986 fielding percentage at second base (min. 400 games) since 2014.

In addition, Catcher Patrick Mazeika has been designated for assignment.

Yolmer Sanchez joins the roster, wearing No. 43. Deven Marrero is DFA'd.

Nick Plummer has been outrighted to Syracuse.

Sam Clay is optioned. LHP Rob Zastryzny is brought up from Zyracuze.

R.J. Alvarez outrighted to Syracuse.

Nice story.

But I remember when most major leaguers had off season jobs to augment their salary. His off season was just a little longer.

I don't care if Fisher was a banker or was in a pool hall making bank shots, as long as he gets batters out.

I wish him well.

Peterson was returned to Syracuse after Saturday night's game. Marrero passed through waivers and was outrighted to Syracuse.

Roster eligibility question.

I believe the current rules say if you option a player you cannot bring him back for ten days. (Injury exceptions are in there, too)

But if they send a player down this week, can he be brought back up once the roster expands on Sept1?

I believe the less than 10 days exception is made once the minor league season ends.
