G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Dodgers give ol' No. 68 a minor league contract. I mostly remember him standing alongside Cano, Conforto and Smith as they Zoom-elaborated on the Mets' decision to support BLM and postpone their game vs the Marlins.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 He was signed and then hurt. He essentially did nothing (or at least nothing good) during his time with the Mets. He pitched to a 7.71 ERA (57 ERA+) over 11.2 Innings in 15 appearances in 2020. In 2021, he improved(?) to a 9.00 ERA (61 ERA+) over 1 inning of work in his only appearance. I guess last year could be considered an improvement, since he basically didn't pitch; which was likely a good thing for the Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 He really was signed hurt — on the hope that a specimen like him, if he can get back to form, would be a steal. The Mets did a similar thing yesterday in signing John Curtis, even though he's out for the season as he recovers from surgery. Dellin was further along in his recovery, but he was still something a longshot at the time.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 My primary memory of Betances involved slapping my head when I realized that van Wegenen gave him a player option for the second year.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 Dellin Betances has retired, per Jon Heyman.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Too bad. We might need him tonight.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Never really recovered from that injury he had as a Yank.
