Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Who is your team's number one secondbaseman in 2022?What a wide-open field we have! Three guys claim the mantle of incumbent in different ways. Only you can decide who comes out on top!https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lhEdmY6Nq7Y/WlO2ivVl8CI/AAAAAAAAFew/u-8OydzraagNR6V6tvTWWfvwBcqnrRtlACLcBGAs/s1600/baseball%2Bplayer%2Bfielding.jpg>
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 I'm the first voter? I went with McRedass. Baez is worth more to a team that needs a shortstop. Cano is cooked. Lindor and McNeil are going to have to learn to play nice on the diamond, and the Mets will bet on Jeffy Mac getting his .300 swing back.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 If Cano is on this team next spring, I'll be surprised. Oh, and annoyed. Not that I'm in favor of it, but I get the feeling they're going to bring Baez back to keep Lindor happy. Which is an annoyance of a different kind.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 It seems like maybe a good time to bet on the improvement of El Mago in late 2021 being a more or less permanent sign of things to come (a la Muffy circa 2016)The question is how long do you wish to bet on that bet?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 I like the notion, but why is this a good time to make that bet?A solid contact-making gap hitter like Murphy suddenly developing a pull stroke? That happens from time to time, and it seems more sustainable to me than a free-swinging slugger developing restraint at 28 or 29.That's happened too, but it sure feels rarer and more fleeting.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 6, 2021 Author Posted November 6, 2021 This is not an easy decision. Each of those top three decisions have a wide range of outcomes. McNeilo is appealing because he'd be the easiest to divest from, but you don't want to make a whole lot of decisions that way. It's hard to be confident that Canó has a whole range of upside left, but one way or another, he's paid for.
