Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Wheeler Dealer goes for the Phillies, and the Mets counter with TieOneOn.Mets will have to get the early lead to keep the boobirds from owning the room after that St. Louis crumble, and getting the early lead will be a tall order.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 And the date is wrong, the game is tomorrow the 17th.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 This pitching matchup always reminds me of the Goofy short "Motor Mania" where it's Mr. Walker vs. Mr. Wheeler.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 They'll probably find a way.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Mets pretty much need to win all remaining games. The would be an igt streak for the books.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 While we are idle, the Braves were idled (rained out vs Rox). The Phils, OTOH, cough up seven to the Cubs in the 3rd ... then come back with seven in their half of the 4th. So it's 7-7, top 5 ... and I don't think it's ending anytime soon.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Yeah, that's CBP crazy! I was going to post about the 7-sniffle thing and thenwe ate and I turned it back on and it was 7-7.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 15.- 8 Phils in the 7th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 17 - 8 is your (3:58) final.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I guess the Cubs went for two.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 OK, so this series is more or less last-stand-ville.I was thinking that even if we swept the Phils the result would be essentially to hand the division to the Braves. But the Braves are in San Fran so they could conceivably lose a few between now and Sunday so a sweep here plus a little damage by SFG and the entire division would tighten up considerably.Of course it would help if they could get some starters past the 4th inning, not leave small armies stranded on bases, stop running the bases like a bunch of drunks, hit a homer maybe with a man or two on occasionally, and, y'know, not suck.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Nimmo supposedly back, not sure if in starting lineup.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Well, Taijuan's ankle broke up the perfect game. Now let's work on this no-hitter.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Credit to the fans. I was dead wrong about boobirds taking the house.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 =Fman99 post_id=78094 time=1631925540 user_id=86]Jeff McNeil sucks
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Always tuff against Wheeler.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Fukkin' sum-bitch!!If there's a perfect spot to hit it so as to guarantee an easy GiDP we manage to find it. The grounder to Goldschmidt the other day was the most recent example.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Seth Lugo is the Jeff McNeil of pitchers.Because, you know, he sucks.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 While we're at it, replay often sucks too.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 The non-reversal costs a run.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 They hit Sac Flies with bases loaded, we hit GiDPs
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Watching Joe Girardi fight is like watching a 1920s film.
