bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Have we discussed the hole in the fence that prevented Pete from hitting a triple rather than a ground-rule double yesterday? The damn place is indoors so why is that hole there (stop thinking what you're thinking, I'm talking about baseball here!)? Has no one ever hit a ball to that spot in the inglorious history of that ballpark or do they not care?https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2021/09/09/632536#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632536https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2021/09/09/632536#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632536 Luzardo sucks but anyone has the potential of pitching a great game against the Mets. He gave up 3 ER in 5 IP but got the win in NY on 8/2 (Pete homered). Marcus has started twice against Team Complain but the last one was in May.METS:1. Francisco Lindor (S) SS2. Pete Alonso ® 1B3. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Luzardo's got some stuff. Looks like a guy you've got to force to throw strikes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Man, Baez is a creative ballplayer. Enough to drive you crazy, but that run was all him.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Apart from a lone Puerto Rican, we've got an all-foreign-born lineup for Miami:1. Miguel Rojas, ss — Venezuela2. Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Wayne is here burying Rojas
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Keith's more or less bragging about living in gated community in Florida.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Well, that ball got destroyed.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Stroman seems like he should be a better hitter than he actually is.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 The Mets have 13 hits thru the first 24 innings in this series.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Baez is trying to okie-doke for the cycle.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 2-sniffle half way through six. Why does it feel like we're losing?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 So with Jazz and Pop already in the game tonight, the Marlins now add a Bass to the mix.Where are John Rocker and Rich Folkers?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Four of the six Marlins hits this game have failed to leave the infield.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Worst Hand job ever
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 my first time seeing Hand this season, he looks totally lost. He appears to have no idea where the ball is going. Then he fields that dribbler and throws wide left allowing the tying run to score. This team is making far too many errors (mental & physical).
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Hand had trouble throwing to two of the four bases that inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Frayed Knot wrote:Four of the six Marlins hits this game have failed to leave the infield.Of course that's twice as many hits as the Mets have.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Tribooms are the best. They're baseball with cream on top.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Three shots to get the run in ... so I'm figuring weve got about a 5% chance.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Pete leads off with a triple off the wall in right field. Hopefully, the Mets can get him home.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Frayed Knot wrote:Three shots to get the run in ... so I'm figuring weve got about a 5% chance.Seems about right to me.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Mebbe the Mets should have pinch run for Alonso there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Now that the Marlins switched to the lefty, the Mets should call up Drury and have him pinch-hit for McNeil.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 If Rojas had used McNeil to pinch hit for Davis, the Marlins would not have been able to counter and change pitchers since Bender had to face his third hitter. Makes no sense to me.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Once Pete's ball hit the fence that ended the Mets chances for scoring.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 and 3 weak ground balls and Pete is stranded.
