The team got their first hit in, what? the 5th inning and had three knocks by the end of regulation. But then their outburst in the 12th was when the 'motivation' kicked in?!? Yeah, right!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Yeah, but it was a really well-pitched game through all that. Cohen calling out the hitters really motivated the pitching staff.#scienceisreal
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 One run through six. Gonna need another calculated or influential tweet from ownership.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I can't see how that tweet could be calculated to do anything. I think it's a frustrated owner sounding off. And it's silly to think it had any effect on the game.Maybe the only newsworthy part is that the players keep saying they have the right approach at the plate, while the owner clearly thinks they don't. I don't know exactly what the process is, but the owner and players are clearly not on the same page.Nor is it evident from their play what their objective is. I mean, if I had to guess, their philosophy seems to be "hit a lot of ground balls right into the shift".Then once in a while complain that the BABIP gods are against you because you hit a sharp ground ball into shift.
