Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I had no idea who 'Webb' was so I hadda look 'im up.Turns out he's Logan Webb, a 24 y/o RH whom SFG drafted in the 4th round out of HS (Rocklin, CA) in 2014He made his debut in 2019 and racked up ERAs of 5.22 (8 starts) and 5.47 (13 games, 11 starts) in 2019 and 2020Naturally that means he's pitching to a sub-3.00 ERA this year (2.96) while lowering his WHIP from 1.52 ('19 & '20 combined) to 1.14 this yearNow Webb is young but he fits nicely into the Giants' "strategy" for 2021 which is apparently to wave a magic wand and have all your players, many of them in their mid-30s, all have seasons exceeding anything they've done in the recent past.On the hitting side: C - Buster Posey (35): for his most recent three seasons (in his case '17 - '19 as he opted out in '20) his combined OPS+ was 108. OPS+ this year = 1601B - Brandon Belt (33): 113 for his recent three years / 138 in 2021SS - Brandon Crawford (34): 91 / 1443B - Evan Longoria (35): 96 / 135Darrin Ruf: Remember him? ... he played for the Phils but then didn't play at all in 2017, '18, or '19!! = 96 ('15, '16, '20) / 148 in '21 across 200+ PAsI mean, WOW!, how the fuck does That happen all simultaneously?!?Is it any wonder that NO ONE had them picked to lead that division, much less the whole NL, in wins for the year, something they've so far donefor the entire season to date.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Yes, Webb has been really good lately... but he's never faced this lineup! What are the Giants wearing?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Mets will win 10-2 tonight, despite Pillar in for Smitty.Mazeika was a very late scratch for McCann, so that's curious.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Maybe McCann was DFA'd or sent to Buffalo, or Brooklyn.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Oh look, City Connect unis for the Giants
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Darin Ruf played in Korea for three years,
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 12 second inning for the Mets #strong
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Giant City Connects are a good idea not well-executed.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Will the Mets get a hit tonight?Update: YESWill they score? Not if they run the bases the way Conforto did.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 A day when Stroman is swinging is a good day.I would have had him take a strike, but that's me.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 No way the Giants should be beating anybody in these uniforms.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 They're beating the Mets. It kind of fits with the mojo of late.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Mets are getting owned by Logan Webb and Tommy Lastella. It is painful.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Big 9th inning rally starts with McNeil single
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 McCann unavailable to pinch-hit against the lefty.I guess Drury or somebody is the backup catcher.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Garcia missing his spots with regularity.
