With the DH, I'm guessing that Alonso or Dom will DH which means that Luis and Company have a decision to make as to who plays LF. I'm guessing McKinney but it could be Pillar. Or Maz will C, McCann will play 1B, Dom will play LF, and Pete will DH (that one won't happen, right?).

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 I don't understand. Conforto can't play against a lefty but McKinney can?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Or they've decided to ease Conforto back in and figure an LHP is a good day to rest him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 I hate going into a series against these fuckers while we're not playing well. Of course they're not playing well either [41-39; 12-14 in June] so who knows. In particular not playing well is closer Aroldis Chapman. After a good start to his season -- he didn't give up a run (at least not his own) until late May -- he finished June with an 11.42 ERA and 1.77 WHIP with 14 hits and 10 walks in 8.2 IPAnd it could have been a lot worse than that considering that he was bailed out of one game by a game-ending Triple Play, while just a few days earlier Vladdy Jr had been thrown outafter being caught between 3rd and home as the tying run on a come-backer!!Others include SS Gleyber Torres: 38 HRs in 2019, 3 so far this season [79 OPS+] AND not fielding his position well. Also OF Clint Frazier: .186 with 5 HR in 200+ PA, and early season import 2B Rougned Odor: .211/.286/.414We'll see Gerritt Cole tomorrow (vs Stroman) and the ever popular TBD on Sunday night (vs Megill).btw, tonight's game is MLBN's Friday Night 'Showcase' game for those shut out of other means of seeing it
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Rain tomorrow too so I think they'll try.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Yankees' Twitter account says next weather update at 8:30. I agree they try to play tonight. Likely to get rain tomorrow night too, and if they play, Saturday's game can go to Sunday afternoon if necessary.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 It is pouring for real now
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 I hope the 30,000 or so Yankee fans that showed up enjoyed the rain and mid-March like weather while they consumed over-priced concessions.Only to be told, "See Ya!"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 That's peak-level Mezzman stuff right there. Totally hardcore. The Yanks had a day to rest their bullpen, so hopefully this gives the Mets pitchers a chance to catch up. Gives the returning warriors one more day of healing too. And it gives everyone one more day to bask in the glowing warmth of Nimmo's warming glow.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 The MFYS got to take batting practice, the Mets didn't. At least their fans got to see that. What is the CPF protocol for a rainout? Is it still KC's IGT?Later
