Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Well, Loup has his Schaeferiest game, anyhow.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 So we've been two hit twice this week and are now in the process of getting one-hit.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Oh good, another [insert here] pop-up / weak grounder from Lindor!!!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 One fucking hit so far to the pitcher, by a pinch-hitter pitcher.Sorry, needed to vent.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 This game sucks so far, but it's only the top of the 9th

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Ugly tie, Gary. Hideous. The toughest part is that the "blue" is a lot closer to Miami teal than New York royal.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Three runs before three outs. Difficult, not impossible.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 It's gonna happen, probably as soon as next year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Maybe, but ya gotta believe.Resignation is the real enemy. Fuck those fucking fucks in the commissioner's office. Yield no quarter.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Agree. It would be much more productive to talk about how hideous that (and the other ridiculous rule changes) are.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Not really yielding or resigning anything, it is what it is. If people feel Howie, Gary, et alshould be more proactively against the hideousness they should contact them. They're easy enough to reach. I'm sure most here would agree that deep down the two of themfind the looming DH, the 7-inning games, runners on second in extras and minimumsfor relievers quite frustrating and ruinous to the game. I'm probably forgetting a half dozen other things. #lgm #ygb #ymdyf
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 And I realize that 'it is what it is' sounds rather resigning lol...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Keith says he digs the seven inning games. I imagine he gets paid the same.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Well, Keef is in whole 'nother bubble-world than Howie, Gary, et al...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Was watching a Braves game recently -- Chip Carey, Jeff Francouer, Tom Glavine -- when the 7-inning topic came up, and both Francouer and Glavine said the same thing:'would have hated it as a player, love it as an announcer' ... and neither of them is anywhere near as old and curmudgeonly as Keith. And even Gary said he likes the "drama" of the 7-inning DH's. He's not so keen on the Xtra rules or the DH but if main-streamers like him are on board for L.L. DH's (alreadyused throughout the minors) then there's probably not a lot of insider opposition. And I'll get up on my soap box once again to say how this whole thing is just another manifestation of them now being able to get games completed in under 3 hours. Getthose things back to even within shouting distance of 2-1/2 and many of these issues go away.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I notice for this game that the PotG ballot attempts to include Jerad Eickoff's non-existent pitching line while excluding his best-on-the-team batting line.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Yes. That's something that happens when pitchers are in the game but don't actually pitch.
