seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Jake Hager became the *eighteenth* New Met tonight. It's only May 15.Last time the Mets had eighteen New Mets this early in the season? When Ed Charles became the Eighteenth New Met in 1967, on May 12. The Nineteenth New Met in 1967 was Nick Willhite, but not until June 11.This means we have almost a month to make this the Fastest New Metliest Year since 1962.(I was going to put this in the Met Count thread, but I felt like it was interesting enough to stand on its own.)

But what about fastest to 20 new Mets*? Or 21*? Or fastest to 11*? * Not including 1962, obviously.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 True, good point. And it's also one of those "modern" type of fake "stats" because there just wasn't that much turnover until the last twenty years or so.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Well, I don't think of it as turnover so much as churn. But I think it's significant that it's happened in the last 20 years, and speaks to a concerning trend.
