Lindor's night: weak grounder, weak grounder, even weaker grounder (single), weak grounder

I can't believe I'm saying this but they'd be better tomorrow with Guillorme at SS.

Maybe they can offer Lindor a Bonillaesque annuity over the next 25 years.

Rojas seems to be a devotee of the Terry Collins 'we got to get this guy going' method of running someone out there who's not hitting. Lindor, and to a lesser extent Pillar seem to fall into this category.

Lindor looks like he's carrying around all 341 million dollars in pennies every time he comes to bat.

My interpretation has been similar but different.

Both he and Collins came out of the development side of the game. So he builds his approach not around achievement but developmental progress. And so a guy whose timing has improved because he hit a couple of balls real hard, but right into the shift is looked upon a positive, moreso than the guy who tapped a ball against the shift for a double.

Terry, of course, had his competitive side and rediscovered it from time to time. But progressing from two hits to four isn't really for me. I lie awake dreaming about ways to beat the shift.

Thoughts on the Game!!

--Entry was easy (small crowd, less up your ass on the test results than I thought)

--The zip-tied seats thing worked--nobody came and sat where they didn't belong)

--Citi Field as usual didn't disappoint with how cold it was. Temp wise, it wasn't bad or "windy" -- but breezy and damp and it just finds you. Put up your hood and it gets your hands. Put on gloves and then the gap between pant cuffs and shoes feel it. It's evil. Once we got back to to street level, pretty much fine.

--Stayed in the 300 section the whole game (left field corner next to the restaurant), didn't venture. Beer incredibly disappointing (coors light!) and a hot dog. That's it.

--Nobody came even close to hitting us a foul ball.

--Had a good view on why McCann was a moron trying to stretch that single. The Mets are just dumb.

--Feel like we should have lost by more, Peterson struggled pretty well but the bullet DPs obviously helped.

--Did any Met get ahead in the count on any at-bat at any time last night? Sure didn't seem like it. Lindor didn't deserve a hit.

--I was kinda disappointed that Cohen & Co hadn't done anything to improve between-innings entertainment, in a lot of ways it got worse not that it was good to begin with, but they "virtualize" the contests: This kid is going against a film of the strongman! The "first pitch" is now done on the kids field (that's OK by me). "Piano man" (ugh!)

--Didn't help that our seats were directly below a speaker (which piped crowd noise the whole time)

--McNeil needs to ditch Pyromania. Was tired of that 2 years ago

--7-train postgame Super Express lives--great. But for some reason they funneled all the departing fans through the Roosevelt steps & side turnstiles and not the big stairs from the park. If capacity goes up any more that'll get ugly as there's too few turnstiles

--If it hadn't snowed in Denver we'd have gotten deGrom, so I suppose it could have been more disappointing

--new PA announcer (I think). Tries to be exciting, but isn't yet
