They traded a 1st-rounder for a guy who wasn't 100% at the time of the trade and will be a FA at the end of the season.

the goal for deGrom has to be "ready for the playoffs" at this point. Granted, that's very much best case at this point.



A reminder that the MILB season doesn't end until 10/3, so there's at least places he get face live batters and rehab. I'm actually surprised by the news today, I thought they'd play mum and he'd try to fight through it in order to make it back this season. Unless the "improving" line is setting it up for him to do just that in two weeks.

Thor pitched in a game for St. Lucie (low A) tonight.

He pitched one inning and gave up one run.

No report yet on his velocity or if he experienced any arm discomfort.

Syndergaard pitched at Brooklyn, not St. Lucie. Says he can't throw breaking stuff, by doctor's orders.

Sean Reid-Foley pitched one scoreless inning in a rehab start for St. Lucie today, giving up 2 walks, no hits and no strikeouts.

With the rosters expanding by only 2 on Wednesday, the Mets will have some tough decisions as McCann (to replace Nido?), Guillorme, Peraza, Gsellman, and SRF are almost ready.

SNY reporting Carlos Carrasco underwent surgery to remove a bone spur in his elbow and is "expected to be able to resume baseball activity in a few months."
