Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Hi, I'm the catcher of the future. Yeah, Met fans have been down that road, but I'm something. Even as a teenager, I've projected nothing but manhood. I skipped over the DSL entirely and at 17, I slugged over .500 between the GCL and Kingsport. Who does that?I do. So maybe I'm just an early peaker. Or maybe I juice like a maniac. Or maybe I've found a new, cool secret way to lie about my age. But I say I'm 19 and my game says I'm 25, so believe what you want. I'm built low to the ground but broad and strong just like God and Ivan Rodriguez intended catchers to be.So you can believe in me or you can doubt. I understand. I understand you've been burned in the past on this whole catcher-of-the-future deal, but I'm asking you right here and now what my 2021 is going to look like, and if any of you accidentally call me "Francisco Peña," I'm going to start punching. If you make it to 2:10 or so there's a really cool ballpark cut out of the rocks.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Looks like a real catcher. I think he'll rise up in the rankings and trigger plenty of McCann Sucks Promote Him Already Sandy anxiety by year-end.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Swift rise to AA by year's end. Maybe a cuppa' at AAA in their playoffs.Swift rise to top 10 or 15 on all the prospect lists next year. He'll continue to hit and begin to impress with his defense.Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Alvarez is gonna play football for the coach?
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 He just might come shining through... but not this year
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 If this guy is a year (or a tiny bit more) away then why sign McCann for four years? And according to one roto-site, Alvarez is like #7 on the C depth chart. What does this all mean? 2023 at the earliest to try and make a splash? He'll still be 21.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I think he becomes the guy in 2023, and McCann can either become a backup or get traded.
