G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Author Posted July 31, 2021 Jake Hager, Arizona Diamondback.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 That's really living up to you name, there, Pirates.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 Raul Valdes, now 43, looking good for Team Dominicana in the bronze medal game.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 Valdes didn't last the fifth, but Dario Alvarez now on for the DR in the rain.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 Alvarez uncorks a wild pitch that ties the game in the soggy fifth. Not a great Mets night in any part of the world.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 “Where do you see yourself in five years?” 2016 Mets edition: Ty Kelly's Long Island Ducks are in a barnburner with Alejandro De Aza's Lancaster Barnstormers.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 De Aza was like the reverse Kevin Pillar: A reserve outfielder who started off like shit and then got ridiculously hot.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 I think this qualifies as an ex-Met in lesser threads.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 A 2007 Met stays in baseball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Those unis make everybody on Cleveland look like a captain.Otherwise a fun look, though.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2021 Author Posted August 23, 2021 Steven Matz joins Philip Humber in the greater Miguel Cabrera narrative.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Author Posted August 27, 2021 Peter Gammons gives Astros pitching coach and 1972 Met Brent Strom much love (and hires Joe Frazier to manage the Mets four years early).https://theathletic.com/2785449/2021/08/26/gammons-astros-brent-strom-the-best-pitching-coach-bar-none-hasnt-stopped-teaching-or-learning/https://theathletic.com/2785449/2021/08/26/gammons-astros-brent-strom-the-best-pitching-coach-bar-none-hasnt-stopped-teaching-or-learning/
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 I was going to mention that Peter Gammons knows as much about the National League as FOX personalities know about COVID-19 prevention and treatment, but then I remembered that Houston is an American League club, and has been for a few years. Other than they knocked the MFYs out of the playoffs, Houston being in the AL is one of the changes to baseball I don't like.Later
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 And you're taking a shot at Peter Gammons, why?

His "insights" were general knowledge if you read the NY papers, but must have sounded original to his national audience. None of his predictions about deals they were going to make came true. So I began to question how well he knew anything else. This article was about an ex-Met, so I considered it through that prism. Hey, I used to like to read Dick Young, who is vilified by many Mets fans. Each to his own.Later

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 (edited) I was. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that is mine.At least I gave an explanation why I feel that way. I used insights in quotes because "copying other reporters' stories without giving them credit" was too long. I hope it makes you happy to parse my posts about my choice of words, but I'm sure you understood what I meant.Later Edited August 27, 2021 by Guest
