If there is going to be a 2020 season there has to be a schedule and it will be released tonight at 6 PM on MLBN with the insipid Matt V. We know the Mets first game and we'll find out the other 59 planned games.

A comment on a TV board (take it for what it's worth): "I saw a copy of it. In division, teams will play 2 opponents home 7, away 3, with the other opponents away 7, home 3. It will not be split 5 and 5."

This cuts down on travel as it means 3 trips between 2 teams rather than 4 trips if it was 5 home and 5 away as expected. They could have had 2 5 game series but that would have been difficult logistically without doubleheaders.

I grow more uncomfortable with this by the hour.

I could be wrong, but I'm not getting the idea that the league has been thoughtful in providing the players, staffs, and umps with a safe workspace. And lest it be overlooked, many in those last two categories fall into the high-risk set. Guaranteeing safe work conditions is something close to a union's first responsibility.

Beyond that, there's something akin to a class double standard. If a well-paid vet has concerns for his or his family's safety, he can bail. But if a sub-six-year player on the bubble of somebody's 40-man roster has the same concerns, he neither has the same resources to walk away nor the juice to protect himself from professional retaliation.

‘This has to get fixed': MLB's incomplete data, delayed results and missing PPE

...intake tests have been woefully incomplete, forcing teams to change or postpone workouts, and the player's promised personal protection equipment has not yet arrived.

[***]

“This has to get fixed,” said Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle, who — as usual — provided honest, articulate commentary about an unprecedented endeavor. “There is a lot of players right now that are trying to make decisions that might be participating in camp that aren't 100 percent comfortable with where things are at right now. That's where I am.”

Doolittle has been tested four times, half of which have taken longer than 48 hours to get results. As he spoke on Sunday over Zoom, he paused for a minute to check his cell phone. Still no results from Friday's test.

There was initial skepticism that one lab in Salt Lake City, Utah would be able to handle the volume of the league's tests with a turnaround of 24-48 hours. Those concerns seem more valid after the first weekend. On Sunday, Oakland was forced to cancel its position players' workout because it didn't have all its intake test results.

Players are supposed to be tested every other day. They are supposed to get those test results ideally within 24 hours, but up to 48. They are supposed to get N95 and gloves and practice safe social distancing. They are supposed to able to trust the system, trust the speed of the intake tests and the league in releasing pertinent data.

Right--other than Joe Ross (his parents are MDs) I think that the players that aren't playing are veterans with some money put away. The dominos could start to fall if Mike Trout opts out, too.

The Mets get the 1st Sunday night game, so we'll have to weather one more Sunday afternoon without the Mets.

6 road games against WSH and PHI but only 4 home games (the opposite with MIA and ATL).

WSH gets 6 games v. the Orioles but only 3 with the MFYs while the Mets get 6 v. the MFYs and 4 with BAL.

Almost everything is at night, although at least they're all EDT night starts so nothing after 7:15

-- Exactly TWO weekday day games, the first being opening day (4:10) and then at 1:10 on Labor Day Monday (also at home) vs Philly

-- Only TWO Saturday day games: Game #2 at 4:10 and a 1:10 start for a late August day in, not surprisingly, YSIII

-- At least as of now, just ONE Sunday night game and again it's opening weekend at Citi. That, of course, is subject to change at the behest of Bristol, CT

-- Other than those couple of exceptions, everything else is 7:00-ish with a couple of Six and Six-thirties thrown in

-- The Subway Series games are on consecutive weekends: Aug 21-23 at Citi, August 28-30 in da Bronx

-- No off-days in July, three in August (6th, 24th, 31st), three in September (3rd, 10th, 14th) Every team gets six.

-- The season finishes (assuming it finishes) with a Four-Gamer in DC
