G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 The Mets have signed ex-Nat righty reliever Hunter Strickland.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 desperate enough to dig into his stats, but I don't really see anything that makes me think most of us will remember Hunter Strickland was a Met in 6 months.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 G-Fafif will be able to tell us all about him 25 years from now.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 He was purdy durn awful for the Nats last year.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 I have vague memories of Scott Strickland, a slight RH reliever who had a few good appearances in 03-04
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Scott was sort of a sidearmer, if I recall rightly. Came from the Expos.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 He was the Big Prize in the Bruce Chen trade. Wore No. 25 then switched to 28 when we hired Don Baylor to be our hitting coach.I seem to recall there being some kind of personal controversy near the end of his tenure, maybe he said an unkind word on his way out or something.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 From Tim Britton in The Athletic:[strickland's] yielded nine long balls in 13 postseason innings in his career — compared with 23 in more than 250 regular-season frames.Let's hope that we have a postseason involving the Mets so we can be concerned about this issue.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 You can't have too much bullpen depth. Strickland has been wildly inconsistent, but he's had some very good stretches too. I got no problem taking a flyer and seeing what happens.
