Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Major League Baseball has sent out a fan survey, asking fourteen questions. Let's make each of these a poll, so they can be voted on and discussed individually. In the event the schedule length is reduced, the Postseason field is expanded beyond 5 teams per league
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 An expanded field of playoff teams increases the Mets chances of making the post-season. Beyond that, I really don't see a point (other than money) to this .
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Have all the teams qualify for the playoffs. Then have 'em play eleven game series's because more games equals more money. The teams that win at least one game out of the eleven advance to the next round. Repeat until there's just one team remaining. And World Series trophies for all the teams.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 I mean, it's somewhat immaterial what shape the playoffs take. Anything happening this year is going to have a wartime-style asterisk hanging over it in the record book, anyway.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 As I've said before, I'd reduce the playoff field for this season. Get an extra week of games in then go right to the final four.Or maybe six qualifiers with the best record in each league getting a bye while the others play maybe 3-of-5 (no days off?) to reduce the field to four.
